We have great pleasure of presenting an entire interview this week with a gorgeous and intelligent lady – Hannie. Her low-profile attitude and humbleness which are accompanied with great character and remarkable talents had us stunned! Although she comes from Kebumen (a small city in Central Java), she has traveled around the world to broaden her horizons and knowledge. It was her perseverance, work-smart approach and passion that drive her towards excellence. Despite all the obstacles that she has been through, she continues to be worthy of admiration. “There are many others who are much better than me and so we must keep learning throughout our lifetime”, the soft-spoken lady replied humbly as we prompted her accomplishments since childhood. Below is our in-depth interview with Hannie Cyntia Dewi Tan:

How do you define success?

I define success as being content with what I have and having harmonious relationships with immediate family, friends, and relations. I’d love to be financially independent very soon and have extraordinary careers. It would be dream comes true to become one of the most influential people in Indonesia and the world, in terms of character wise, persona and (physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually) contributive to society and those in need. It will my greatest gifts, satisfaction and accomplishments if someday I can make good differences to other people’s lives.

What is your priority in life currently?

Pursuing my career (I’d love establish my own companies one fine day), being totally independent, realize my ambition, spending quality time with family and finding the right person to share the rest of my life with…

What have you done to achieve success?

I have made good, often unplanned decisions at the right time!! In addition, I persevere, work hard and work-smart, pray, build up my confidence; practice, and have strong minds, balance my life by doing what I enjoy most. Simultaneously, I do some sport activities, eat and sleep well and make sure that I will not be afraid of making mistakes (this is one process of learning life’s most valuable lessons). …but I also try to avoid fatal mistakes. I also sharpen my interpersonal skills by extending network of friends and relations. I try to explore new things, be alert, enthusiastic, open, selective, reach ‘new heights’, never stop learning… and be myself! I find it most challenging to adapt to variety of cultures without guidance.

Who is/are your inspiration/s?

Both of my parents! They always give their best for their children. Secondly, the continuous influx of potential youths and influential people that we often see or read in media and also the people around us! They inspire me in so many ways. We can learn a lot from realities in our daily life. Last but not least, God inspires me through his noble teachings. He teaches us to love one another unconditionally and other noble values about how we should ideally live our life.

What is the secret of your success?

Support from my family members, especially my brother and people back home are the integral parts of my success. Close friends also give me strength to keep me going in tough times. We should also have confidence, passion and balance in what we do besides exceptional blessings from above. Recently, I have met few extraordinary individuals whom I would gladly proclaim as the catalysts who have transformed my life for the better. 

At last, do you have any message for Vibizlife readers in general?

We will soon commemorate one of the nation’s most celebrated events: Indonesian Independence Day (17^th August 2009). With hopeful spirits and prayers, may we all live in peace and harmony despite our differences. It has indeed been a privilege to able to represent Indonesia for International pageantry back in 2008. I was and still am very proud to be Indonesian and may we continue to preserve our heritage and be thankful to all the patriots.

Also, we should believe in ourselves, support one another, maximize our potential and opportunities. Don’t wait for the opportunities to come, but CREATE them!! Innovate, be creative and proactive, regularly exercise (sports), do your best and let God do the rest. Last but not least, always be thankful no matter what circumstances we are in.
